This is awesome, but I’m waiting for the HEMC update so that we can use audio mode on my D-BOX sofas for all content (gaming/movies).

I currently have to use an older HEMC box for audio bass mode and then switch to the HEMC D-BOX for motion movies, it’s a pain! But hopefully the update will be out soon so that I only ever need the one HEMC box!

Btw how does switching modes work? Will the box auto check if the content is part of the D-BOX library and then switch to motion? And if it’s not then it will stay in audio only mode? Or do we manually need to change it via the app? (Hopefully not)

Hi @nadim.alam.1! HEMC should updating itself if open. Your case seems very specific so if you have any questions, you can also contact our support team at support@d-box.com.
We encourage you to downlad Haptisync app on App Store or Google Play. This will allow you to change mode, This article might be helpful: https://support.d-box.com/en/knowledge/adaptive-audio-mode-home-theater

Okay thank you @amelie.trepanier yep I’ve just opened the app and saw the audio mode is there now!

So the user has to manually switch between video and audio mode?

Yes! You have to manually switch the mode.

Great news. Was waiting for it since… the introduction of the HEMC in 2015 ! But the result is horrid: massive vibration even if there is no sound (like noise)… Looks like the sensibility is set to a microphone level, and not a CINCH connexion.

Hi Gilles! Thank you for taking the time to give some feedback. I will share it with our product team.

yeh ive noticed the same issue also, a lot of the centre channel voice activates the audio bass on sofa, I know you can disable centre speaker in the app, but that is no good either as this then disables all bass sounds from centre speaker also like gunfire etc…

Hi Amelie, in my setup on the app, there is no “IN : Audio Line In” in the Audio Source menu as your sreenshot shows, but “IN : Microphone (High Definition Audio Device)”, which corroborates what I’m saying about a mistake in the level expected on the input (and thus the ground noise converted into continuous vibration). But I can’t change that setting as there is nothing else.

@gilles.gerin Ensure your HaptiSync Hub or HEMC is connected directly to your Audio Source (AV Receiver, TV, etc.) using the “AUDIO IN” port of your HaptiSync Hub or HEMC. We do not recommend using the microphone for Adaptive Audio Mode has it degrade the quality of the experience.

Hi @nadim.alam.1, you’ll always have the best haptic experience when watching movies using our D-BOX Coded Video mode. Our haptic designers are the best!

This being said, Adaptive Audio is a good alternative, but it requires the user to adjust the settings in the HaptiSync app depending on the content. Based on our test, to optimize the haptic experience with the Adaptive Audio mode:

  • You need to ensure you have a line-in connection to your audio source (see instructions here) - you should not use the microphone
  • If you enable the “Ignore Central Audio (voice)” option, you will most probably need to set the “Audio Source Level” at maximum or close to maximum.

We are conscious that the audio mix of each movie is different and for some movies, you might decide to not enable haptic using this mode.

Let us know if this is better

Hi @amelie.trepanier yes I am using the line-in connection and no microphone.

Also I have been using your old HEMC box (can’t remember the model number of the box) as a standalone Audio only feedback, on this I never had to ever disable the center speaker and never had haptic feedback appearing on speech before, but currently using the new HEMC audio mode there are times (although minor) that provides feedback on center speaker audio which is really annoying.

Hopefully in an update they can fix this issue and work out a way to still use the center channel on the haptic feedback but somehow mute the voice from being used on haptic feedback.

We appreciate the feedback. The more we get from various users, better are the improvements we can do.

Hi Amelie,

Is the Adaptive Audio working now? I tried it about 10 days ago, and even though my couch moved up and down to let me know that it’s ready, when I played a movie - there was no motion.

Jerry

Hi Jerry! Yes it’s working. Are you connected in-line with the Haptisync? Using the Haptisync app, you need to change the mode to Adaptive Audio if you want to use it.

My experience with Adaptive Audio Mode has been really good. I’ve found that the audio codec or channels or audio mix of some movies does not play well with Adaptive Audio Mode but that’s not a fault with the mode. It’s the audio source. The vast majority of movies I’ve tried it with work fine. I ignore the central audio otherwise it reacts to dialogue, which I don’t want. Overall, I’m really enjoying it.

You clearly have not experienced the old controller audio bass modes, they are 100x better. The new audio mode on HEMC is pretty terrible, hardly works well with any source.

The old one pretty much worked with every source, didn’t have to ignore central speaker either (that is a silly thing to do).

All in all the new audio mode in unusable in its current condition and I don’t know how anyone could find it usable.
